Wildlife photography is very challenging, but
even more so down at 70 feet below the surface of the ocean.
Adventure photographer/writer, Phil Maranda from the
Canadian Rockies region captured this dazzling
underwater scene in The Bahamas at a spot called
"Shark Arena." He took this image and many others
from the sandy bottom as professional divers fed as many as 40
Caribbean Reef sharks as they darted and sometimes
bumped into Phil as he fired the Nikonos - V camera
with flash mounted at a 45 degree angle and the lens
preset at 4 feet. Even with all the confusion of
frenzied sharks, Phil created a wonderfully composed
and powerful image.
